Important Notes – Summer 2013
-
We strongly encourage you to submit a
complete Independent Student Application by
Monday, June 10, 2013 if you plan to register for courses in
Summer 2013. We cannot guarantee that applications received after that date will be processed in time for you to begin this summer session. Complete application means that in addition to the application form you have submitted all of the documents required for your file to be assessed.
-
International Students are
only eligible to apply for independent studies if they are
already in Montreal. International independent student status is not intended for foreigners applying from abroad since this status may not enable them to obtain the required Study Permit and CAQ to study in Canada.
-
Before registering for courses, all new Independent students must take an
online assessment. Once you have submitted your
application to become an independent student and received a
student ID number, please go to the
Student Transition Centre website and follow directions under ‘Learning Skills Inventory’. Your registration will be blocked until this has been done.

An Independent Student
is a student who is not in a degree program, and is registered in undergraduate
credit courses, normally
on a part-time basis. Typical Independent Students may be interested in taking
courses for general knowledge or job-related purposes. Others may be interested
in specific subject areas or may take courses to "test the waters" prior to
applying to an undergraduate degree program at the university. |
